About Us

Neil Thompson – Founder & Musical Director

Musichoir was founded by Neil and his wife Susan in 2011 and continues to grow from strength to strength. Neil graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 1999 with a BA in Musical Studies and a CPGS in Performance. An accomplished Pianist, Trumpet Player, Guitarist, Vocalist and Vocal Coach, Neil is a dynamic all rounder. He is well known for his role as lead singer in the rock band Bahookie, who regularly perform all across the world in countries such as Norway, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Thailand and Indonesia and closer to home he’s supported the likes of INXS and Deacon Blue.

Neil is also a Music Specialist and Instructor for the South Ayrshire Region. He designed and currently directs the Youth Music Initiative’s “Sing-a-long”project, developing vocal and performing ability in young children.

TV credits include BBC (Songs of Praise), STV (The Hour) and (The Riverside Show). He has recently launched a choir programme in the SEC Glasgow, promoting the benefits of singing and how this can build confidence and self-esteem in the workplace.

Greg Robertson – Choreographer

Greg has been choreographing for Musichoir since we started in 2011. He is delighted at the success the choir has had since then and is thrilled to have been a part of it. Highlights during his time with Musichoir have been performing in the Usher halls, Edinburgh, and choreographing an the all singing, all dancing performance in the Emirates arena for the final of the World Youth Netball Championships.

Outwith Musichoir ,Greg also works as a choreographer for a number of Glasgow theatre groups, his credits include, ‘Evita’, ‘Curtains’, ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ (Runway Theatre Company), ‘Sunshine on Leith’ (Theatre Guild Glasgow), ‘In The Heights’ (Glasgow Music Theatre), ‘Cinderella’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Addams Family’ (Eastwood Entertainers). He also helps to choreograph the stage experience summer school in the Theatre Royal Glasgow, where he works with over 80 children to put on a full production in just 2 weeks. Musichoir will always have a place in Greg’s heart, given that it was his first opportunity to work professionally as a choreographer and has opened up many doors for him which he’ll always be very grateful.
